Fashion is the second most polluting industry globally! According to the Lenzing group, the world's textile consumption was at 95.6 million tons in 2015.
Fashion causes water-pollution problems, too. Textile dyeing is the world's second-largest polluter of water, since the water leftover from the dyeing process is often dumped into ditches, streams, or rivers. Dying textiles causes lots of water pollution.

Why is the fashion industry not sustainable?
Premium. Harmful chemicals, global transport of goods, and non-biodegradable packaging add to the environmental cost. The combined impact has put the industry under scrutiny among consumers who want to know where—and how—their clothes are produced. They're demanding ethical practices and responsible retailing.
