Since the beginning of last year, I've researched how to make a majority of what I buy most frequently. Kombucha happens to be one of those. I would buy kombucha sometimes daily, or at least two to three times a week. Which add $$$ over time. The amount of bottles, and money I was spending. So I told myself I would learn how to make kombucha, and here we are. I bought a kombucha kit and I also grew my own SCOBY.

Here where I brought my kit $35 whole kit
What is a SCOBY?
SCOBY is the mother that basically ferments your tea. It eats the sugar, and it ferments your tea turning it into kombucha. It's the living home for the bacteria and yeast that transform sweet tea into tangy, fizzy kombucha think of the SCOBY as the coral reef of the bacteria and yeast world.
What's Vegan Sugar? Yes it's a thing.
Let's talk about sugar now. You can't use just any sugar. Make sure to look into vegan sugar. Some sugars are processes with bone char to it white.
Here are some vegan sugars :
Zulka–an Ordinary Vegan favorite and available at most mainstream grocery stores!
Sugar In The Raw - my favorite
The Raw Cane - my favorite
Step 1:
You're going to make your tea your tea and all that other good stuff. You're going to set everything up and happily, this kit comes with the step by step instructions. On how to make your own kombucha. It couldn't be any more self-explanatory then this is also be linking a Tik Tok video of me making my kombucha above.
If you don't want to buy the kit you can just buy your own 1-gallon mason jar or jug .
What you will need:
1 cup of organic raw cane sugar or cane sugar
3 tbsp of tea ( black tea or green tea or a combo) let it sit for seven mins before adding sugar.
2 cups of starter tea
7 cups of water cold
cheesecloth or natural cotton fabric
rubber band
warm space
flip top bottle or mason jar if you want it super bubble I'd recommend you investing in a few flip-top bottles.
You can ferment your kombucha for 7 to 30 days I only ferment mine for 7 because I wanted mines on the sweeter side ause plus it's my first time making kombucha.Plus taste pretty good after seven day.
Once your kombucha is done fermenting for 7 days check it. Check the flavor, to see if it's where you want it. I like my kombucha to be a little sweet if you like your less. Sweet then I would leave it to ferment a few days longer. You can also look into YouTube videos hear some of the videos.
This is what the SCOBY looks like after 7 days.

Once I was done pouring my fermented kombucha into flip-top bottles. I was ready to add my flavors. Here are the different fruits I added :
( mango, blueberry, raspberry, and apple )
And I'm just going to let those sit for days 3-5 making sure to burp them every day for 5 days. So they don't explode. I don't need a mess, plus I worked hard on this. It's a pretty cool process and once you're done you'll have kombucha.

Here's what I used in my second batch:
( Apple, lavender and lime, peach)
